Youth Over Guns, a youth-led advocacy group, joined forces with NYAGV in November, 2018, to raise awareness about gun violence that impacts communities of color and to empower youth to advocate for life-saving policies and programs.

Youth Over Guns was formed by students of color shortly after the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida. Its founding members include high school and college students from across New York City, as well as graduates of the NYAGV Education Fund’s ReACTION youth program to reduce gun violence.

NYAGV provides strategic advice, logistical support and meeting space for Youth Over Guns, which will retain its name. Youth Over Guns provides ReACTION students and other New York youths with a readily available platform for advocacy work.
