The conclusion of a recent report by the Violence Policy Center came as no surprise:
- States with strong gun violence prevention laws and low rates of gun ownership have the lowest gun death rates in the nation.
- Conversely, states with lax laws and higher rates of gun ownership lead the nation in gun deaths.

NYAGV is proud that New York State has the nation’s fourth lowest gun death rate. But we continue to work for laws like child access prevention (CAP), microstamping and anti-trafficking that will further reduce gun violence in our state.
