Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, the Families of Sandy Hook Promise, and the NYAGV founders will be the honorees at this year’s NYAGV Education Fund Benefit and Silent Auction on October 21 in New York City.
The event supports NYAGV Education Fund youth and community programs to reduce gun violence.
- Governor Andrew Cuomo will receive the Allard K. Lowenstein Award for Public Service for his leadership in passing the NY SAFE Act, the landmark gun safety law;
- The Families of Sandy Hook Promise will receive the Detective Steven McDonald Law Enforcement Award for their efforts to educate the public about gun violence; and
- On this year’s 20th anniversary of NYAGV, NYAGV founders Barbara Hohlt, Ellen Freudenheim and Katina Johnstone will be honored for their ongoing efforts to reduce gun violence in New York.
