CAP Coalition Grows AgainPosted on Jul 8, 2014 • 12:22 PM No Comments
Physicians for Social Responsibility-New York City and Connect are the two latest organizations to join the New York State Coalition to Prevent Child Access to Guns.
NYAGV is organizing the coalition to build support for the enactment of A8293/S7822, Nicholas’s Law, a child access prevention (CAP) law requiring the safe storage of guns. The coalition now includes 40 organizations working to keep our kids safe from gun violence.
Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) uses its medical and public health expertise to advocate on issues that threaten communities. Connect is an organization dedicated to eliminating family violence.
Nicholas’s Law will help prevent accidental shootings and suicides among children, school shootings, and gun thefts. The bill is named for 12-year-old Nicholas Naumkin, who was shot and killed by a friend playing with his father’s loaded and unlocked gun.
