In June 2018, Youth Over Guns led thousands of New Yorkers across the Brooklyn Bridge for gun violence awareness.

NYAGV announced on November 26 that Youth Over Guns (YOG), a youth-led group, has become part of its 501(c)(4) organization.

Youth Over Guns joins with NYAGV to raise awareness and empower youth.

Youth Over Guns will join forces with NYAGV to raise awareness about gun violence that impacts communities of color and empower youth to advocate for life-saving policies and programs.

Youth Over Guns was formed by students of color shortly after the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida. Its founding members include high school and college students from across New York City, as well as graduates of the NYAGV Education Fund’s ReACTION youth program to reduce gun violence.

NYAGV will provide strategic advice, logistical support and meeting space for Youth Over Guns, which will retain its name. Youth Over Guns will provide NYAGV’s ReACTION students and other New York youths with a readily available platform to continue their advocacy work.
