New York’s strong gun laws are under threat by the NRA-backed Congress. Both houses are considering dangerous legislation to require New York and other strong gun law states to recognize the concealed carry permits of gun owners from all other states–no matter how weak their gun laws.
These Concealed Carry Reciprocity (CCR) bills–H.R. 38 and S. 446–would override the strong, sensible gun laws that New Yorkers have fought for and that have helped reduce gun deaths and injuries in our state.
Because many states have weak gun laws, CCR would allow dangerous individuals with criminal records to freely carry their hidden, loaded weapons onto our streets and into our public spaces–from Times Square to Niagara Falls and beyond. And if the House bill passes, guns may even be permitted at your child’s school or in the local bar.
Don’t let the NRA-backed Congress gut New York’s strong, sensible gun laws!
