The New York State PTA has joined NYAGV’s coalition for the passage of a New York State child access prevention (CAP) law.
The coalition, called the New York State Coalition to Prevent Child Access to Guns, now includes over 25 organizations and is working to enact A8293, Nicholas’s Bill.
Nicholas’s Bill will help prevent accidental shootings and suicides among children, as well as school shootings. (A recent report showed that 75% of the shooters in school shootings obtained their guns from home.) The bill is named for 12-year-old Nicholas Naumkin, who was shot and killed by a friend playing with his father’s loaded and unlocked gun.
Sign the petition for Nicholas’s Bill and share it with your friends to ensure guns are kept locked and safely stored away from children. >>
