NYAGV has issued a statement regarding the April 15 deadline to register militay-style assault weapons in New York State.

While the New York SAFE Act–passed by a bipartisan legislature and signed into law by Governor Cuomo in January, 2013–included a ban on military-style assault weapons, the Act permitted current owners of those weapons to keep them but required them to be registered by April 15.

NYAGV Executive Director Leah Gunn Barrett stated, “These weapons of war have no place in our communities.”
