L-R: Rebecca Fischer, Shaina Harrison, Arman Becan.

Thanks to NYAGV members who attended Tuesday’s NYAGV Members Meeting in Manhattan.

Attendees heard from:

  • Rebecca Fischer, NYAGV Executive Director, who gave an update on gun-violence-prevention legislation, and urged members to take action on pending legislation. (See below.)
  • Shaina Harrison, Program Director of the NYAGV Education Fund’s ReACTION Youth Program, who discussed working with high school students in high-risk areas to reduce gun violence.
  • Arman Becan, an NYU student who is forming the school’s NYAGV Chapter, who discussed how college students are organizing and committed to strengthening gun laws.

The discussion was followed by a Q&A session, exploring gun issues and NYAGV initiatives in-depth.

Missed the meeting? There’s still time to take action!

1. Support the New York Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) bill to keep guns away from individuals in crisis and likely to harm themselves or others. The bill has passed the Assembly but needs support in the Senate.

2. Oppose the Concealed Carry Reciprocity (CCR), a dangerous federal bill that would require New York and other strong-gun-law states to recognize the concealed carry permits of gun owners from all other states. The bill has passed the House and will be taken up in the Senate.
