New NYAGV PSAs: “It’s your right to own a gun. But do you really want to?”
by Virginia Sobol on Jun 30, 2016 • 11:33 AM No CommentsNYAGV is releasing a series of new public service announcements (PSAs) to highlight the dangers of guns in the home.
The 30-second PSAs look at how everyday situations–children playing, a teen breakup, and a domestic argument–can turn deadly when a gun is present. A gun bought for protection is 22 times more likely to be used in a homicide, suicide or gun accident than in a defensive scenario.
PSA #1: “Game”
NYAGV’s first PSA conveys the importance of keeping guns safely stored when children are nearby. These dangers are real: Just last week, in East Orange, NJ, a five-year-old child unintentionally shot and killed his four-year-old brother with an unsecured gun. Please share this powerful video!
Former New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly has endorsed NYAGV’s PSAs in an introductory video:
NYAGV thanks The Jump Agency and Message Disciple, which created the videos and generously donated their time, expertise and resources.
