Member Meeting Highlights Legislative Activities
by Virginia Sobol on Apr 2, 2015 • 2:18 PM No CommentsAt NYAGV’s Spring Member Meeting on March 31 in New York City, NYAGV members got a chance to network and find out about NYAGV’s state and federal legislative activities.
After showing a video, “Guns with History,” NYAGV Executive Director Leah Gunn Barrett updated attendees on NYAGV’s New York State initiatives including Nicholas’s Law for child access prevention/safe storage and domestic violence legislation, as well as a federal proposal to expand background checks.
Gary Pudup, former police officer and NYAGV’s coordinator in Rochester, was on hand to describe NYAGV’s upstate activities and growing membership base.
The need for Nicholas’s Law and other gun safety measures was underscored by professional photographer Joe Quint’s “It takes us” project showing touching photographs of gun violence victims and their families.
Thanks to all the members who came out!
