lwvlogoNew Yorkers Against Gun Violence (NYAGV) is proud to welcome the League of Women Voters for New York State to the New York State Coalition to Prevent Child Access to Guns.

NYAGV is organizing the coalition to build support for the enactment of A8293, Nicholas’s Law, a child access prevention (CAP) law requiring the safe storage of guns.

“We’re thrilled that this influential organization is putting its weight behind the campaign to reduce child gun deaths in New York State,  commented Leah Gunn Barrett, NYAGV Executive Director.

The Coalition is advocating for a child access prevention law to reduce child gun deaths.

Nicholas’s Law will help prevent accidental shootings and suicides among children, school shootings, and gun thefts.  The bill is named for 12-year-old Nicholas Naumkin, who was shot and killed by a friend playing with his father’s loaded and unlocked gun.
