childcarecouncilwestchesterlogoThe Child Care Council of Westchester–which champions healthy development of children, families and communities by promoting quality early care and education–is the latest organization to join the New York State Coalition to Prevent Child Access to Guns.

NYAGV is organizing the coalition to build support for the enactment of A8293/S7822, Nicholas’s Law, a child access prevention (CAP) law requiring the safe storage of guns. The coalition now includes 42 organizations working to keep our kids safe from gun violence.

Nicholas’s Law will help prevent accidental shootings and suicides among children, school shootings, and gun thefts. The bill is named for 12-year-old Nicholas Naumkin, who was shot and killed by a friend playing with his father’s loaded and unlocked gun.
