On Tuesday, May 2, we’ll be taking high school students in the NYAGV ReAction Youth Program on a field trip to the state capital–where they’ll get a chance to meet with legislators, share their experiences, and advocate against gun violence.

Albany Day will be a life-changing experience for these students. Won’t you please help defray the costs of this valuable day with your donation?

These high school students–from communities such as Crown Heights, the Bronx;  and Jamaica–will also be able to apply the public speaking and organizational skills they’ve learned in the Program.

Here’s the schedule:
  • Morning: After an early morning departure to Albany, the students will meet with legislators from their districts–among them Carmen Arroyo, Nick Perry, Jo Anne Simon, Yuh-Line Niou, Mark Gjonaj and others.  Students will discuss their experiences with gun violence and urge legislators to support gun dealer regulation and gun violence research.
  • Afternoon: Students will hold their own press conference in the Capitol Well, with outstanding students speaking on behalf of the group.
