In the 14 months since the massacre in Newtown, there have been 44 school shootings in the U.S., according to a recent report,  “Analysis of School Shootings,”  by Moms Demand Action/Mayors Against Illegal Guns. That’s an average of more than three school shootings a month.

The shootings–which included fatal and nonfatal assaults, suicides and unintentional shootings–resulted in 28 deaths and 37 nonfatal injuries.

Where did the kids get their guns? From home, in most cases. Among the shootings where the gun source was determined, 75% of the shooters got their guns from their homes.

This report presents another clear reason why we need child access prevention/safe storage laws so guns can be locked and safely stored away from kids.
