A state-by-state analysis shows that states like New York with stronger gun laws have lower gun death rates, and the states with weaker laws have higher gun death rates.

The report, the 2014 Gun Law State Scorecard, by the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violenceassigns letter grades to all 50 states based on the effectiveness of their gun laws.

In the report, New York State again comes out a leader–with an A- rating–because of its strong, effective gun laws and low gun death rates.
