NYAGV Executive Director Rebecca Fischer

On April 26, the Boards of Directors of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence (NYAGV) and the New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Education Fund announced the appointment of Rebecca Fischer as Executive Director.

Fischer, an attorney, previously practiced labor and employment law at a boutique firm that provides representation and strategic advice to non-profit management.

Affiliated with NYAGV since 2012, Fischer first joined as a volunteer advocate and spearheaded the development of NYAGV’s Child Access Prevention Coalition, a New York State safe storage law initiative.  She served on both NYAGV Boards of Directors for three years and as interim Executive Director since January 2017.

“Rebecca has demonstrated her tremendous management skills as well as her commitment to our mission of reducing gun violence. We’re excited to have her take on the role of Executive Director, and look forward to working with her as we grow our organization and its programs,” said Paul May, Board President.

Fischer commented, “It is an honor to step into this position of leadership on behalf of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence and the NYAGV Education Fund.  Whether we’re advocating for strong gun laws or empowering students to be agents for change, it is my top priority to engage New Yorkers in collaborative initiatives that will save lives.”
