Activist, comedian, and playwright Lewis Black will be this year’s recipient of the Allard K. Lowenstein Award for Public Service at the NYAGV Education Fund Annual Benefit on Monday, November 2. At the event, being held at 10 on the Park at Time Warner Center in New York City, Black will be recognized for his impassioned advocacy for strong gun laws.
Black’s blunt and aggressive comedic style involves pointing out the hypocrisy in society, a style that is well used when he talks about his frustration with America’s gun culture. Black has been recognized for his work by the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, and is a New York Times best-selling author and Grammy winner.
