Please note that the press conference with the New York City Council originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 28 at New York City Hall has been postponed until June. However, the City Council will still issue a press release announcing the introduction of a resolution in support of Nicholas’s Law, requiring the safe storage of guns in New York homes.
Please watch for announcements for the new date in June, which is Gun Violence Prevention Month.
In the meantime, please take action to support Nicholas’s Law here.
Nicholas’s Law, A.53/S.2291–The Child Access Prevention or Safe Storage Act–would require the safe storage of weapons in New York State not in the immediate possession or control of the owner. A.53/S.2291 is named for 12-year-old Nicholas Naumkin, shown right, who was unintentionally shot and killed by a friend playing with his father’s unlocked gun.
