Nicholas Naumkin

Nicholas Naumkin

Thanks to your calls and e-mails to Assembly Speaker Heastie’s office last week, Nicholas’s Law, A.53, will be brought to the New York Assembly floor for a vote this Monday, June 15, before the ending of the Legislative session on June 17.

But in order for Nicholas’s Law to become law, the Senate needs to act.

Please take action now:  Send a message to Senate leaders Jeff Klein and John Flanagan to ask them to bring S.2291 to a vote.

S.2291 is the Senate version of Nicholas’s Law, named for 12-year-old Nicholas Naumkin, who was shot and killed on a playdate in 2010. This law, which requires the safe storage of guns not in the immediate possession of the gun owner,  will help protect our kids from unlocked guns in the home and will prevent teen suicides and the theft of guns that end up on the streets.

Phone calls help too!
