Advocates Hail Governor’s Plan for a State-wide Program to Interdict Gun Traffickers
New York, NY, New Yorkers Against Gun Violence (NYAGV), New York’s leading grassroots gun violence prevention organization is extremely pleased with Governor Pataki’s announced plan to dedicate 100 new State Police Investigators and $4.5 million toward an expanded inter-governmental gun interdiction effort.
Jackie Kuhls, Executive Director of NYAGV said, “Gun traffickers cross jurisdictional lines as they bring guns from other states to New York City, and from county to county within New York State. NYAGV has long sought a state-wide, coordinated response to this problem and we are very encouraged that the Governor has allocated much needed resources to a program that has the potential to save many lives.”
